We both run the same XFree86 except for a few us which hack on X servers.
Not sure if the *bsd crowd is shy or what but I do see a lot of postings
with comp.windows.x.i from the linux crow having problems with X.
BTW: XFree86 supports 1600x1200 with some of the #9 models.

I usually don't use 1152 900, I use 1280 1024 it looks much nicer.

The linux sound driver works under FreeBSD and it has for quite a while
Additionally, I made kernels available which I allow the gus driver
to record/play at the same time also we support multicast so if 
you have a decent connection you can listen or talk on the MBONE or
your local IP Multicasting network.
