I just downloaded the Linux driver for the Adaptec 274x/284x SCSI controller Evidently this driver is in it's pre-alhpa phase of development, revision 5, and I think it's being developed for Linux by John Aycock (aycock@cpsc. ucalgary.ca) primarily for the 274x. Other people have supplied pathces for the 284x, and someone may be working on support for the 294x. The driver was located on ftp.cpsc.ucalgary.ca under /pub/systems/linux /aha274x, and contained all source code necessary to build it under Linux. I am investigating the idea of trying to port this driver over to NetBSD. Evidently some of the current NetBSD drivers had their origins in Linux. (WD7000 mentions this.) What I need to get is any information available on the driver interfaces to NetBSD, or what would be better is information on the differences between the driver interface to Linux as opposed to NetBSD. I would also like to know the proper way to add in the Adaptec 2842 driver to the Kernel as a configuration option. Any information would be greatly apprectiated. Gerry Simmons simmons@darykon.wa.com
