Date: 3 Oct 94 18:26:32 Organization: Dolby Laboratories, Inc. Lines: 28 Distribution: comp Message-ID: <DEM.94Oct3182632@sprocket.dolby.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: sprocket.dolby.com Does NetBSD <whatever is current> support really big SCSI disks as single volumes? Is it possible to store gigantic files in these partitions? We have a possible need for an in-house-written application to process files containing multi-channel PCM audio, which eats disk space like nobody's business: a one-hour file containing six channels takes about 2 Gigabytes! This program, which is written in ANSI C, currently runs fine on our SparcStations under SunOS 4.1.3, except that this version of the OS has a maximum volume size of just under two gigabytes. The program compiles and runs just fine under NetBSD 1.0Beta (1 August), and if this OS supports huge disks, then a fast Pentium running NetBSD could serve to process these files until we get the final real-time DSP hardware running. Thanks in advance for your help. -- --Douglas Mandell -- P.S. Our incoming mail machine's sendmail.cf is STILL broken! Please make sure any e-mail to me is addressed "dem@dolby.com".
