Is there a problem with booting Tiny 386BSD >on a machine with IDE primary and Adaptec SCSI secondary disk controllers? I had a similar problem. My machine has IDE drives only, and on 0.0 it booted ok (the HD's complained a lot, somethine was wrong). Version 0.1 did the same hang after indicating that it was changing the root to floppy. How I fixed it - I dug up the native geometry of my IDE drive (this took a call to someone who had the technical specs for the drive). It turns out that the drive LIES to the bios about its geometry, this was some how confusing bsd. Since I could not boot 0.1, I disklabeled with 0.0 and now 0.1 will boot. I have yet to install 0.1, but don't anticipate a problem now that the drives are quiet and happy (lots of screaming under 0.0 originally due to incorrect drive geometry). All: I'm still confused about the bad sector allocation - can a mini tutorial for "designing a disktab entry" be placed in the faq? That and how this relates to Bad144.. +/+\+/+\+/+chew carefully/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+\+/+ Roo [andrew@zone4.ocunix.on.ca] m a c h i n e l o v e h a t e f e a r v o i d .
