Zack, the honest to Dog answer to "What's the difference between the
various freely available BSD systems?" is "Not too much," if you're
planning on using the machine for anything other than hardcore development
work.  I've tried both of them (and Linux), and found both Free and NetBSD
to me more than adequate for my needs.  If you'll take my advice, just
figure out whichever FTP site is fastest from where you are and grab that
one.
