BSD is more BSD, Linux is more sysV,
BSD starts with a B, Linux with an L,
BSD can run on PCs, Linux too.

If you want more details, do the following thing:
 - install one of them, play with it during a month
 - delete all
 - install the other, play with it during a month
 - delete all <--- very important

 choose the one you want.
 - install it and be happy.

I did the following :
 - install X (1 month)
 - install Y (3 days)
 - install X again (2 months)
 - install Z (more than a year)

Now I am running Z and I am very happy. Others are very happy to run X or Y.

ps : Don't forget to have a look at T.

I hope this help.
