I have seen exactly the same error as you are describing with >a Conner CFP1060S drive. Just a data point for both of you: I have 3 machines [2 home, 1 at work] that have these drives with various controllers [BT-946C, Compaq AIC-6260, Adaptec 1542B] and various OS'es [NetBSD, NT, DOS]. Never had a problem with the drives in any of the machines... My NetBSD machine has /usr, /usr/local, and /usr/tmp on the Conner, and it works just fine... [Although the drive in the NetBSD box is on the 6260 controller, so the 1542 driver could be at fault, but it's been working for so many people over such a long time that I can't believe it would be causing the probs.] What ID does the drive feed you back?? I believe at least 2 of mine say "Conner CFP..... 2035" where I assume the 2035 is the firware ID or revision. I'm not at work, so I can't check on the 3rd one. --rafal -------- "...less plot and more wierd Nazi machines..." | Rafal Boni -- Tom Insel, on certain Japanese cartoons | r-boni@uiuc.edu
