I don't know which is "beter" but I can tell you that I've been using
SLIP on Linux to connect to a SunOS 4.1.3 for the last six months and
I encountered no problems. I also have FreeBSD installed on a second
machine here but I find it, in general, appreciably slower than Linux
on the same hardware.
