I used to be a vi user; I 'converted' to emacs early this year. Do it! The emacsw bin package, in packages-1.1 on your favorite FreeBSD ftp server, works fine. If you don't have X up yet, it's a lot better under X than character cell. If you're new to Emacs, I heartily recommend O'Reillys _Learning GNU Emacs_. If you use Emacs for writing code, and are jealous of DOS editors that "color" the code for you, explore the hilit19 package that comes with emacs-19. Cool stuff, if a bit slow on my 386/40. ;^) matthew c. mead (mmead@goof.com) wrote: : So you want help because you're using vi? Welcome to unix. vi is god! : [note this is obvious flamebait :-)] Obvious? Never! Why, I've never heard of an Emacs-vs-vi jihad, have you? Wes Peters -- Caution! .sig under construction!
