I assume it's something to do with the settlement between USL (now Novell), Berkeley and BSDI. It's pretty obvious what is missing. Anything AT&T derived which was not rewritten is missing. This includes utilities like tar, the grep family and the [tn]troff familiy, though the latter has been replaced by groff. As for the kernel, again, anything AT&Tish has been cut out with a dull scalpel. All of the kernel files are present, but the bodies of routines have been replaced with /* Body deleted */. This includes the exec(2) code, anything to do with block I/O accounting and ttys. I surpised there is anything on the CD :-) Honestly, there is alot of good work on the CD. All the networking code is there which is a treasure trove of its own. Thanks to O'Reilly, its affordable too. All in all, a very good addition to your unix collection. This includes the 4.4 manuals as well. Wouldn't do without the set.
