Hello.
I had this
'gzip: stdin not in gzipped format.'
trouble too. I think, this was due to CRC-errors on my floppy. I tracked
it down to misadjusted drives in both of my machines. Finally I got it,
with exchanged floppy drives, copied the disks on one and installed from
the other.

I suggest, to make the floppies on an other PC.
