Good question!

I bought an FX-001D Saturday, and I now have it *almost* working
with FreeBSD 1.1. The mcd_probe routine finds the drive OK,
recognizes it as having "recent" firware, PICKLEs the controller
(whatever *that* means ;^) but whenever I try to access the drive
via /dev/[r]mcd0[ad], I get "device not configured." Go figure.

How am I supposed to configure the DMA on the controller? Since
the GENERIC config file line doesn't mention a "drq" value, does
this mean I'm supposed to use no DMA?

If the author of this driver is out there, I'd be glad to help with
a cleanup of the code, and to write a man page, if anyone is
interested.
