There > is always MachTen Sco...Sunsoft too > NeXTStep is UNIX based (it uses Mach with the BSD emulator), OS/2 is not. OS/2 is a good OS, but it uses some rather different concepts than does UNIX. Also, it is intended as single-user and provides no security. Minix was written as a teaching tool, and never really managed to rise beyond that; the comp.os.minix FAQ indicates some rather glaring omissions. Neither OS/2 nor Minix is free. Linux, on the other hand, is a great OS -- I may be a bit partial to it since I have run a Linux system in a production environment for over two years and currently sysadmin four Linux systems, soon to become five -- I am in the process of converting my BBS system to Linux. Just earlier today I installed the iBCS2 (SCO) emulator and ran the WordPerfect 6.0 demo without a single glitch. On my home system, Linux runs DOOM II without problems, whereas running it in DOS crashes roughly every other time I play. /hpa
