Well, a good starting point is always Essential System Administration,
published by O'Reilly & Assoc. Lots of good intro to concepts and
important utilities and procedures as well as to the general workings of
UNIX rom an admin's point of view.
Note: I do not work for O'Reilly & Assoc. -- I just have an
ever-expanding library of their books 8-)
