Uhm... I think the whole problem lies right there. There's FreeBSD and
NetBSD are releasiong new versions, spawned from pretty darn decent
versions.
386BSD 1.0 is a highly delayed, near-vaporous "release" of an old alpha
PC-BSD operating system. In the last 6 months, I don't think I've seen any
claims as to why it would even portend to be better than the much more
tested and proven FreeBSD and NetBSD.
