Hubbard) Newsgroups: comp.os.386bsd.announce Subject: New boot floppies for 2.0 ALPHA available Followup-To: poster Date: 12 Nov 1994 22:50:34 -0800 Organization: Walnut Creek CDROM Lines: 50 Sender: cgd@agate.berkeley.edu Approved: 386bsd-announce-request@agate.berkeley.edu Message-ID: <JKH.94Nov11191944@freefall.cdrom.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: agate.berkeley.edu As part of our ongoing support for ALPHA users, new boot floppies for 2.0 ALPHA are available on: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/2.0-ALPHA/floppies/newer/ These images _should_ fix all reported problems so far: o Floppy tape installation is now supported. o The DEC PCI ethernet driver is now supported. o "more" processing and IRQ setting in the boot -c stuff works. (-c invokes the dynamic kernel configuration option at boot time). o Several confusing bits of the README are fixed or reworded o Interrupts are now handled semi-gracefully o `cu' is now available for users who need to dial-out their SLIP lines before going on with the transfer. There's even a prompt for it (let me know if this works, it's sort of untested since my test box got taken over for XFree86 3.1 development!). o ncftp should not go into bogus interaction mode on errors o tar and basename are now in the distribution, which should help folks trying to install the srcdist before (or at the same time as) the bindist. o Install now asks you nicely one last time before clobbering your disk. o Much general cleanup, elimination of typos, etc etc. Still not supported but planned for BETA. o DOS floppy or partition installation o User after-configuration (usernames, timezone, etc). Thanks, and please let me know immediately if you have any problems! Jordan
