Woah! Who said anything about him getting accurate information? He
admitted to getting a whole lot of "impressions of a minor flood, a large
part of which was just uninformative". Where is this "accurate
information"?

The best way of getting accurate information is to run the different
systems on the *SAME HARDWARE* and doing decent benchmarks. Who better
to do this than a "newbie"? Most people already running a system
don't want to trash it to test another - it works for them! On the
other side, most "newbies" just want to get a system up and running
fast, so the chances of someone having run comparison tests are pretty
slim and I am sure if results were to be posted they would find their
way to anyone who asks - the *first* time.

There is of course the problem of "decent benchmarks", but thats
another story. :-)

: 'Nuff said.

Yup. :-)
