You *must* patch the kernel. This is not an option. Patches are in the X distribution. This will continue to be the case until such time as the patches are incorportated into the standard kernel and it is rereleased. Anyone with an already patched kernel without too much garbage in it (mine has 3 extra file systems, only 2 of which currently work, patches to the boot code, patches to the page table code, the starlan driver, and a hacked hi/lo density floppy driver) care to ftp it up to agate.berkeley.edu for this guy and his friend?
