Don't tell seyon anything about baud rate - it won't care or know. Just tell it the data rate in bits per second. And for any modern modem running speed buffering/error correction/data compression, you should be running your serial port from your PC at a rate faster than the nominal modem line data rate, ie. faster than 14400. At least 19200, mebbe 38K4 or 57K6, if you set it up correctly. FWIW.
