Date: 23 Nov 1994 12:52:36 GMT Organization: SOCS, McGill University, Montreal, Canada Lines: 49 Distribution: world Message-ID: <3avduk$esj@homer.cs.mcgill.ca> NNTP-Posting-Host: marge.cs.mcgill.ca I feel very alone right now. I guess the biggest reason is that I CAN'T DIAL OUT OF MY MACHINE. What is it with these fancy uucp packages, anyways? I have NetBSD-1.0 going fine and dandy. Earlier I had some /..../include problems, but I fixed those by wiping the directory and reextracting (I upgraded from 0.9).... So that's all fine. And I got the [so-called] patch for conn.c from the mailing list. But: cu DOES NOT work, patch inclusif, and I can't figure it out. It grabs the port, the light goes on on the modem, I get the connected message, then as soon as I type something cu gives this: cu: write: Input/output error, and drops the line. I am invoking cu with: % cu -l /dev/com1 -s 19200 like I have been for the last year and a half, and then dialing out with 'atdt5555555'. I see no mention of this problem anywhere, save for the original patch. Does ANYONE else have this problem? Does ANYONE know how to fix it? Tip doesn't work either... one would almost begin to suspect that some sort of dialout conspiracy is in place here...it doesn't even seem to seize the com port. I can type away, but the characters are being echoed locally, eg not bounced off the modem.. it is quite strange, I never used to have any major problems with tip under 0.9 (save for the fact that I couldn't get it working at 8N1...). I thank anyone who can provide any inkling of assistance, with either cu or tip. I hate carrying src tree patches home on floppies. :-/ Regards, Colin. -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- fox@cs.mcgill.ca Colin Bradley Anything that is good and useful is made of chocolate.
