Message-ID: <1994Nov22.104030.17108@galileo.cc.rochester.edu> Sender: news@galileo.cc.rochester.edu Nntp-Posting-Host: uhura.cc.rochester.edu Organization: University of Rochester (Rochester, NY) Date: Tue, 22 Nov 94 10:40:30 GMT Lines: 11 I'm running FreeBSD 2.0a with the security distribution installed, and it seems that telnetd is not correctly resolving hostnames on incoming connections. If I telnet in to the machine from anywhere except localhost, the address it records (to utmp,wtmp,etc..) is the numerical host address rather than the hostname, even when nslookup on the same machine correctly returns the hostname. This happens only with telnet connections; rlogin connections resolve the hostname properly. Has anyone seen this? I thought I'd ask before poking at the source. eric
