The reason why people didn't react was that there is a difficulty
in answering your quesion, "BSD, Linux, which is better and why ?".
It was not because people are not kind to you, not because they want to
piss you off. But because it is really, really, really difficult
to answer. The question has been being the source of farocious flame wars
among various free Unix-like OSs, and they just did not want to involve
in the flamewar again.

It is unfortunate that many new users face this question and don't get
any answer (since there can't be one ).
Maybe rather than trying to answer this question, someone might wish
to write something like, "New Users Guide for Free Unices", written in
*plain* English.
