	Thanks for the replies, to those who have taken the time.

	I will look into these options in further detail, having
	had no success with the softcar thing in the past (yes,
	even after rebooting...).

	One thing, though, I read on netbsd-bugs a while ago something
	to the effect that 'one should *never* use softcar on a modem
	line..'. 

	Comments?
