Hmmm...the system messages at bootup showed it seeing the media setting as being UTP (which is what it is--I had set it on the card with the 3c5x9.cfg program when I installed it). >>since this is my work machine it has to have a working net connection >>from the start or else I can;t use it at all and will have to switch back >>to Linux again (Linux-users--don't comment please). In my opinion, many people would respond to this with a >comment along the lines of "Then use Linux and STFU." The "Or Else" >type comment rubs everybody the wrong way. Sorry--what I meant by this was that it gets very time consuming having to continually reinstall the OS on the machine when something doesn't work out because I need the machine to be up and running during the day. >If you feel like you just have to mention that Linux runs correctly >on your hardware, but XXX OS doesn't, say something like this: >"I know the hardware is working, as DOS, Netware, and Linux all work" Heh. OK--well, the hardware works fine with Chameleon under Windows and worked right off the bat when I installed Linux. Ack--gets closer every time I try installing but still no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. >And yeah, I probably should drink less Mt. Dew...
