The sums are hardcoded in the script or file, and if you put all the tarballs into a single directory (so as to load them to tape all at the same time) they overwrite each other. I REALLY appreciate all the work the guys have done on 2.0, but the release notes don't discuss HOW to make a tape containing ALL the distributions - something I hope to ba able to do. Perhaps the files RELNOTES.FreeBSD got omitted inadvertantly from the 2.0-RELEASE directory.
