: installation.

: Specifically:

: 1. NFS installation fixed.
: 2. Installation from floppies fixed.
: 3. Now possible to disable floppy-tape driver that was hosing some folks.
: 4. Installation from tape should work fine (let me know if it doesn't).
: 5. UFS installation fixed.
: 6. Network installation Q&A improved.
: 7. XFree86 distribution install interacts on first screen, not second.
: 8. Rather substantial re-org of installation for easier understanding.

: I'm just coordinating the re-rolling of the 2 boot floppies with the

Newer floppies did some improvement on the installation process. However,
FTP and NFS install partially works only if:

I goto UFS install and out of the shell provided (fortunately, this seems
to be the only way getting out of the install script temporarily),
manually configure 'ifconfig' and 'route' and create /etc/hosts with
appropriate IP and hostname. Previous basic network setup like asking
hostname, domainname, IP address of the host, etc. disappeared.

I have SCSI tape drive with SCSI ID 2. I could not go with TAPE install menu.
Do I have to configure ID with 1 ? I've seen some comment on this from FAQ.

  Thanks,
  J.
