i have had similar problems with my 1542B controller with FBSD2.0
I am unable to boot because i get some sort of parity error on my
scsi host, freebsd says the hardware failed. if i force ignore and
boot up i get the AHA timeout errors. my scsi cable is a bit under
3.5ft. i might also add that i successfully use this same card with
OS/2, windows nt, dos, and linux. i think the card is fine.

any suggestions?
