Well, using the brand-new (I was *SO* excited) boot_144.flp, on my Dell
from Hell, I still get

fd0C: hard error reading fsbn 1928 of 1928-1935,

with the miscellaneous zcat: stdin error.

during the 'unzipping package portion'.

Like I said this is on a DELL DGX DE/2, and the floppy has given me NO
problems EVER with DOS, Windows && Nextstep.. I have installed DOZENS of
commercial software packages with notsomuch as a hiccup.

Does on-board floppy controller have anything to do with it?

This is not the eventual machine that FreeBSD will go to, but I wanted to
shake it down before buying a dedicated machine.

My question to the net:

What hardware have YOU got FreeBSD running on. I'm looking specifically for

* Motherboard mfg (cpu, too)
* Floppy i/o (controller, etc.)
* SCSI config (if any... do you hook up your floppy to your Adaptec card??)
* Ethernet

I'm sure there are many lurkers who will see this info and go "Hey, I got
a machine that can run FreeBSD, AND I WASN'T AWARE OF IT!!!"

-or maybe not. =)

Thanks
Roy.
