I am new to FreeBSD and I would like to ask couple of questions:

1. How do I rebuild the kernel ?
I like to make it lighter than the original release.
Could someone let me know the procedure or direct me any docs.

2. How do I su root under normal user accout ?
I created user accout using '/stand/adduser.sh -i' and assigned
group 'users' to user, which adds one more group in /etc/group as:
   users:*:1000
When I try 'su root', I get the following message:
'you are not in the correct group to su root.'

I did not install secrdist. Is this the cause of problem ?
What is the correct group to do this ?

Thanks in advance.
J.
