yup, 0.0 dist.fs boots fine, but you can not build a boot
track for floppy from 0.0, nor can you boot 0.1 dist.fs at all.
You are not alone. something weird about compaqs, i have heard about
this from 486, 386, everybody with one of those !@#$#@$! compaqs.
There is one guy i have heard from, who has many compaqs, and precisely
one of these machines will boot 0.1! it is in no known way different.

for what it is worth, bsdi stuff will boot on a compaq, according
to bsdi, and this has been tested by no less than COMPAQ itself.
I don't have the time to fool with these machines so am
going to drop a kbuck on bsdi and stop beating my head against the wall.
