I was confused about this as well, but after talking with Rod I now
understand it.  Basically, the PCI bridge on the bus can act as a
device, but the current FreeBSD PCI code doesn't do anything with it.

So, doing anything special with the PCI/VESA bridge isn't supported, but
the standard feature of the bridge is supported.

The 2940 is not yet supported.  The code for the card is there, but the probe
routines to detect it have not been written yet.
