You can't call any unix type thing runnable until the TCP and NFS works. : I am a sysadmin for both Suns and Linux systems. Our main linusx system : has an uptime of over 59 days. We can barely get by on the suns on SunOS : 4.1.3 for two weeks without having to reboot for some reason. I am not overly happy with the stability of SunOS 4.1.3 or Solaris 2.3 either. However, your comparison may be somewhat unfair. I would bet that your Sun box is banged on quite a lot more than your Linux box is.
