Now we really know how quality control works for Linux. "Neither Linus or myself could test the code first - trial by fire seemed to be the only way..., since I couldn't think of anything to test it on." Anyone ever wondered why people in suits don't want free OS's? Here is the answer for you. Let me guarantee you, firsthand, that it doesn't work this way under NetBSD. The core team is *very* strict about "correct" code, whether it belongs in the kernel at all, and if it has been thoroughly tested. Even then, they rarely integrate a patch directly from the contributor, but look it over and rewrite it into the appropriate place by hand, so as to have the most amount of thought applied throughout the process.
