After SVR4.0, Sun's Solaris went one way enhancing their product with the latest being Solaris 2.4. SVR4.0 did not support SMP, a dynamic kernel, kernel threads etc. but Solaris 2.4 has them. SVR4.0 became 4.1 and then 4.2 which is what UnixWare is built on but to believe that UnixWare is better since its 4.2 and not 4.0 is silly. Unixware 1.1 (SVR4.2) does not support any of the mentioned features that Solaris does yet 4.2 is greater than 4.0 so how could that be? When UnixWare 2.0 comes out supporting the features that Solaris has had for years, it will still be based on SVR4.2. USL is gone so the numbers tacked on to SVR4.x are meaningless. -- Regards, Bryan Althaus bryan@krf.com
