That's true.  I feel reasonably confident wrt the Atari, but know nothing about
Macs or Amigas.  I don't even have an 68030 Atari but would buy one if there was
a reasonable chance of running BSD.

Yes.  68000-only systems don't give the performance necessary, I had Minix on 
my ST for a while but was never very happy with it, for just that reason.

Yes, the first thing would be to get a gcc cross compiler for Moto chips running
under 386BSD.  This compiler could then be used for cross-development within the
386BSD source tree.

I'm just trying to find a good 3.5" ~ ! GB hard disk to get started :-)
