It employed unique hierarchiel manager->driver->descriptor kernel : interface that allowed dynamic 'on the fly' device driver loads/unloads. This : system came out about 1979 or so. Oh yes - the manufacturer is Microware. I : don't work for them, but I like their product! Ahh, yes... OS/9 Level II running on a Color Computer 3 w/ 512k of memory... More stable *preemptive* multitasking than you can find on Windows in 8 megs of RAM.
