When I mount my DOS filesystem on wd0h # and copy some files from/to the mounted directories, the system almost # always crashs. (So I can't effectively backup my huge sound sample files # in the 120MB-free ufs... *sob*) # # Is it a bug of mv command, or of the code which handles DOS filesystem? # And anybody knows how to fix it? # This may or may not be related, but a buddy of mine running FreeBSD2.0R was doing a lot of copying, removing and moving files between BSD and the /dos partition, and when he tried to reboot back into DOS his FAT was trashed and he couldn't reboot. Norton's Disk utilities couldn't fix the problem either. He had to reinstall DOS, with about a 20% loss of data. I quickly changed my /dos partion to read-only in my fstab. But that creates other problems, since under 2.0R I can no longer mount the floppy drive and I've never been able to get my Colorado 250MB tape drive working. Since I usually used the /dos partition to move stuff to and from work, I've reverted to rz/sz and a modem. Slow, but safe. -Dave -- David Avraamides Goldman, Sachs & Co.
