The motherboard is 'upgradable' and there is a spare 486 carrier alongside the 386 chip. The 386 is an Am386dx/dxl 25 (at least thats whats written on it) made by Advanced Micro Devices. What I'd like to know is how easy would it be to upgrade to a 486 sx 25 and would it be worth it. Such chips are available at the local emporiom for about 50 quid (GBP) which, being a student is just about within reach. Is this all I'd need, ie unplug the 386, fling in the 486 and bobs your uncles, flo's your aunt or is there a whole can of worms associated with such a change. Any opinions, views or whatever would be gratefully welcome. Andy. mb3x_520@mech.port.ac.uk
