ncurses is a complete replacement for curses.  It provides SysV-style
extensions like line drawing and colors.  It seems to be much more
intellegent about updating the screen quickly than the curses that
comes with NetBSD 1.0

It uses terminfo, which it provides.

And wait a while since there is too much work and to few core-developers.
But why wait when you can upgrade now?
