They stay up and running FOREVER no problems, period. Plus AIX's sysadm interface (smit) is VERY easy to use, almost as nice is HPUX's sam. NT is a joke. The PC folks at work put it on my 486 and brought it to it knees! I could not believe how slow it runs dos apps! The only thing NT has only for it is a great wealth of off cheap off the shelf software. And that is the truth. $200 solutions are hard to say no to. Why is it that if you buy into an Intel/MS solution you have to buy a complete new system every two years or so? I am starting to get pissed off. My 486 state of the art two years ago just barely runs the new MS software and OS's! Hell it has 16 megs of ram 256 k on board chache. it's a 33DX and it is now a dog? Shit! Meanwhile my sun sparc1, which came out before the 386 is still doing just fine. Something is wrong with this picture. No more Intel/MS for me, thank you every much. My new home computer is a PowerPC runing AIX 3.2.5 now if i could only get this damn PC on my home network! Not as easy as the NT folks claim. I almost ready to give up on NT and put Solaris 2.4 on the PC, in the hope that WABI 2.0 will let me run MS word and MS filght simulator. jim shirreffs i speak for myself and only myself
