Is your DOS partition >32MB in size?  I have the same problem with large 
(>500MB) DOS partitions, while a small partition is OK.  Somewhere in one of 
the FAQ's is a mention that support for partitions for DOS > 3.3 may be 
somehwat problematic.  Unless I am suffering from memory failure, DOS <= 3.3 
was limtited to 32MB primary partitions.
