I've got a problem with slip on my bsd boxes, and it's driving me nuts. Basically, my problem is with tcp connections "pausing," that is, having insufferable delays between the time I type something on my end, and the time it actually gets Tx'd. The setup is FreeBSD 2.0 -> 14.4 USR Sportster dialing in to a terminal server, setting 8 bit clean NetBSD 1.0 SPARC (SLIP server) logging into my slip server machine login slip, which starts sliplogin, sets up interface, route, arp quit the dialup, start slattach on the freebsd machine, set up interface, routes, etc. ping works fine, telnet (and other tcp related tools, including ftp, irc, sendmail) "pause." tcpdump shows that the packets look ok, but listening on the sl0 interface on the freebsd machine shows that packets aren't even reaching the slip interface for at least a second after i type them. I can reproduce this problem under the following circumstances netbsd/sparc as the slip server, freebsd as the client, netbsd/sparc as the slip server, netbsd/i386 as the client linux as the server, netbsd/i386 as the client linux as the server, freebsd as the client Any help would be greatly appreciated, this problem is causing my blood pressure to rise. ;) -- Any opinions expressed in the preceding message are mine, and are not to be taken in an offical capacity unless otherwise specified.
