I got an Intel Pentium P54C CPU@66/100Mhz system with "S82434-NX" chipset, AMI Flash BIOS, on-board PC Tech local bus EIDI controller, 16 MB ROM, 730 EIDE Hard disk and 1005 MB Micropolis-4110 SCSI disk, external Sony CD-ROM, and a SCSI controller with NCR-810 chip. I want to load FreeBSD to the second disk(Micropolis). However, everytime when I downed load the bindist from the FreeBSD cdrom or from the floppy disks, I always got this error message: ncro: reset by timeout. ncro targ 1?: ERROR (80:110:a8)(8/13)@(363a8:87030000) ncro: restart (fatal error) sd0(ncr0:1:0): COMMAND FAILED (9 ff)@f0558400 sd0(ncr0:1:0): COMMAND FAILED (9 ff)@f0558800 ncr0: reset by timeout sd0(ncr0:1:0):FAST SCSI-2 100ns(10 Mb/sec)offset 0 The original Geometry on Micropolis is 2001 cylinders, 9 heads and 114 sectors/track. FreeBSD says the geometries is 2426 cylinders, 9 heads and 93 sectors. I followed the instruction page and changed the disk geometris to 2426 cylinders, 9 heads and 93 sectors. Where is the problem? Is the hard disk side did not terminated correctly? I checked that already and it is terminated. I have met the same trouble. I think the problem is from firmware bug of Micropolis-4110 SCSI disk. Installation to the other SCSI disk was succeeded. -- Miura Toyoki (toyoki@itc.aist-nara.ac.jp)
