Nate's suggestions about termination are very pertinent; follow them first.

You may also want to check the firmware on your 34f; look at the EPROM
closest to the top of the board, if the part number is 28008-005 or lower,
you should consider upgrading to the current revision (-006).  The 
Ultrastor BBS has the current revision available for free download, or 
you can get it directly from Ultrastor.
