DOSEMU itself depends heavily on the Linux-kernel. New versions
depend on new kernel-features. So you need kernel/vm86-support
under *BSD too.

There's work going on to let dosemu run in conjuntion with BOCHS,
the 386-cpu-emulator. From time to time patches get incorporated
into the development-tree.

There are also a couple of other dos/i86-emulators out there,
which may be better written than the linux-dosemulator and
therefore better portable.
