I get different errors each time I try to install. I've been at this for almost 2 days now and just can't get it to work. My configuration: Intel 486/66DX2, IDE Drive - All DOS Adaptec 2842 VL/SCSI Controller Conner 1.06 GB SCSI disk (688MB for DOS, 325MB for FreeBSD) I'm able to set up my FreeBSD slices and partitions. I've checked the disk geometries, loaded the boot manager on my IDE drive and everything looks fine. I've used the Install guide to a 'T'. -I'm able to get through the first part of the installation with no problem. -At the end of the first part, the installation asks me to remove the boot floppy and hit <enter> to reboot. -The boot manager starts OK and hit an Fkey to get to the FreeBSD boot msg. -I enter hd(1,a)/kernel since I'm loading FreeBSd off of the secondary disk. The kernel starts going, looking for devices, etc... and then sometimes I get 'page fault in kernel mode'. Other times it gets to the message asking me for the CPIO disk which I do. Now while loading the CPIO disk I get other errors. -Twice I was able to get through the CPIO installation process until the final box where I was asked to load the distribution disks. When I tried that I get a process error, signal 11 and I can't get any farther. -At this point though, I should have a valid kernel on my hard disk. However, when I try to reboot again I get page faults when booting the kernel. Can anyone help a very frustrated person. -- Michael Vernick vernick@sbcs.sunysb.edu Dept.
