I usually find Jordan to have a great sense of humor and it is important to keep from taking things like this too seriously. Some of his musings on the mailing lists have had me laughing for signficant amounts of time. Lets not take ourselves too seriously. And additionally -- it is true that WC helps various team members in varying degrees (I choose to say independent -- it is more fun!!!) Maybe others want to help too, rather than just using the fruits of our efforts. Help can be in the form of software contribution and many other ways. Publishers are of course generally free to re-distribute FreeBSD, but I do believe that there is a bit of a moral issue regarding the relative contributions to the effort (i.e. WCs participation.) Bottom line though, FreeBSD is FREE and meant to be re-distributed. I just feel that it is easy to get things out-of-proportion. WC does help alot, and it only seems right that they should be able to see some rewards for this help. John (FreeBSD core team member) dyson@root.com
