Seems to me that merger would be a two-edged sword. On the one hand, no doubt there *would* be time & fiscal advantages. Reduction of duplication of effort, etc. On the other hand, I find it hard to believe that it would not also mean that the direction of the combined operation would very likely be that of one of the parts. That is to say, if user X prefers one outlook and user Y another, chances are that, at best, only one of X and Y will still be happy. How big a problem this may be, I have no way of knowing. But I'm pessimist enough to realize that not only could it create the best of both worlds--it could also produce the worst of both worlds.
