Lines: 32 Message-ID: <daves.5.000BEB76@interlog.com> NNTP-Posting-Host: morphos.interlog.com X-Newsreader: Trumpet for Windows [Version 1.0 Rev A] I'm having loads of trouble doing an FTP-based install over SLIP - and I really shouldn't be, since I am hardware-wise and I make my living consulting using SunOS 4.x (BSD-similar). The install, by the way works just perfectly until the bindist/etc. section, where I try to do an FTP install over SLIP. My modem (a US Robotics Sportster internal V.34 on IRQ 5, com 3) *is* recognized at probe time, and a cua02 device *is* created, but whenever it says 'talk to your modem now', it doesn't give me a chance - the messages flash quickly, but dropping into a shell and invoking cu myself, I find it states something about 'lock.. port not available \n All ports busy", or something close to that. I don't know what it would say if I did this from the *real* bindist, since I haven't been able to FTP that. I have a serial port (16450) on tty00 (although a cua00 device is not created), a disabled tty01 (no cua device, but tty devices exist), the modem on tty02 (cua02 exists, as well as cuai02, and cual02 - what are these others?), and nothing on tty03 (but cua03, i03, and l03 exist). I had a Zoltrix (el cheapo) V.FC modem which would not even get detected at probe time, but I bought the USR because I knew it would. I did not know it wouldn't go any further. I have tried FreeBSD2.0R, FreeBSD2.0-941222-SNAP, and FreeBSD2.0-950112-SNAP and they all refuse to work in the same way. I have ordered the FreeBSD CDROM from Walnut Creek, but it hasn't arrived yet. I would appreciate all the help I can get at this point. BTW, I'm certain that I'm not alone, so follow-ups are preferred.
