I have endian problems doing this on my DECstation. > >second, WHAT THE *^%$#@ DOES disklabel DO? and how do I use it? > Well, you have fdisk to put MS-DOS / ROM BIOS style partitions on your disk, > and disklabel to put BSD style partitions on your disk (optionally in a disk > partition). > I think your DECstation does something similar. Actually my DECstation uses chpt to create a partition, then you mkfs it. None of this stuff about creatinga "disklabel" for a "pack" ! :-) This is fine, but how do I use it? Something like disklabel -w as0a cp3100 ? Do I need disklabel with floppies (which are never partitioned)? how do I create a partial partition (not the whole disk)? Why does it need the disk type, why can't it query the disk for the info it needs? How did "install" create my partition?
